Director of Operations

Erik Bergman is the Director of Operations for Neighborhood Restaurant Group. Erik has over 27 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to relocating to DC, Erik lived and worked in New York City, bartending and serving while interning at New York Theatre workshop. 


Once in DC, Erik worked in some of the DC area’s top restaurants including time with Kimpton Hotels running the beverage programs at Rouge, Topaz and Poste Moderne Brasserie, as a kitchen manager, Director of Operations and partner for Tonic, Radius and Palace of Wonders, and as General Manager PS 7’s. 


Erik joined NRG as General Manager at Birch & Barley/ChurchKey in 2010 and has managed the creation and openings of GBD, Bluejacket, The Sovereign, and Owen’s Ordinary. In his current role as Director of Operations, he is responsible for restaurant culture, guest & employee experience and overall restaurant performance, as well as directing many off-site initiatives such as Canteen, NovemberFest and Snallygaster. 


Growing up in New England, Erik is an avid Boston sports fan and plays ice hockey regularly in men's rec leagues. Having spent lots of time in the kitchen coming up in restaurants, cooking remains a hobby for Erik, much to the delight of his friends and family. Erik began his hospitality career as a dishwasher when he was fourteen years old and has worked every possible position in the industry, a path that greatly informs his current role.
